Hi All,

Today is my 30th birthday and I am very excited to be pretend styling myself for the occasion in black tie looks! Tonight we are celebrating by going to the play Sleep No More and I seriously can not wait. I think it would be really fun to dress up but we will be on our feet for three hours exploring so that won’t happen. Will have to be comfort dressing all the way. Below are three different looks that I styled for different faux parties. If I learned anything from Rachel Zoe it would be that you need to have many options and different looks. Each theme is a mix of modern and vintage clothing and accessories. Please feel free to click on my pinterest for links.

This is the outfit that I would wear to see Sleep No More if money was of no concern and I had the strength to spend three hours in heels. I went with a vintage flapper dress for the occasion since the play is supposed to take place in the 20′s or 30′s. With some Deco jewelry and crazy spike shoes. This outfit is a little bit Victorian goth and I love it!

For my second party I would love to spend it on a cruise vacation. My birthday would fall on formal night and we would dress up for a fancy dinner and then go to the broadway style show afterwards. The day would have been spent on the beach in the Bahamas. I went with a loud color blocking dress since I love to wear long colorful dresses on vacation. The more color the better with lots of beautiful vintage stunning jewelry and a vintage shawl for even more pop!

For my last party I went with a bohemian but lux outfit with the long kaftan style dress. And a mix of beautiful silver accessories. I think it is perfectly ok to mix gold with silver and opted for vintage gold jewelry with emeralds. This party would be spent somewhere exotic like in Greece which is one of the spots we hit on our honeymoon two years ago. It was so beautiful there and I miss it. I am definitely dreaming of my next vacation even though I have no idea when that will be happening.

Happy Monday,

This week is partially a vacation for me because one it is my birthday on weds and two Craig is taking three days off starting tomorrow. So I am excited to have some time off together. Last weekend we were in Connecticut and I did a little vintage jewelry shopping with the money I made by selling off some old clothes. I did very well and bought two vintage bracelets and three vintage rings. I think rings are my favorite jewelry item to wear. I just love them. Big or small, real or faux I do not discriminate when it comes to jewelry. I will wear a ring on every finger if i feel like it and just love a hand covered in all kinds of rings. especially vintage ones. Below are some current favorites I found on 1st Dibs.

This winter in NYC has been crazy. One day it is super cold, in the 20′s and the next it is 60 degrees out in February. Crazy I tell you and also making it difficult deciding on which winter jacket to wear every day. I must admit I am not a fan of my winter coats. I hate them in fact. I have three brown puffer coats that I use for different temps. I mean who has three brown coats, I couldn’t find any black ones and that is what came home with me. I wear those ugly puffers becuase i hate the cold and they are the only things that keep me warm. But I feel dowdy and ugly in them and wish I had a coat closet full of really beautiful vintage ones. The ladies from the 40′s, 50′s, and 60′s sure knew how to dress up their outerwear. Their coats were so lady like and pretty and they dressed them up with fancy brooches pinned to their lapels. I did a little digging on 1st Dibs and here are some of my favorites.

1. faux 60′s leopord

2. 1960′s Tiger Mink, love the stripes

3. Camel with fox fur collar 1960′s

4. 1960′s lynx

1. Muskrat 1960′s. Love the mix if fur and leather

2. 1920′s blue velvet and white fox collar

3. 1960′s dyed beaver. The stripes are pretty amazing

4. 1950′s purple fox

1. 1980′s Navajo, love the pattern and it even has beading

2. Orange Jean Patou 1960′s looks like it moves like a dress

3. Sable and leather 1970′s

4. Missoni from the 80′s. Love the color blocking

If I move to warmer climates one day wear a cold day is in the high 40′s I will be on a mad search for similar coats!

I would say my favorite vintage style of watch would be 1920′s Deco. I just love love love those watches, they are like beautiful pieces of art work for the wrist. I usually wear obnoxiously large watches in my every day life but definitely want to add a deco watch into rotation. I like how watches from the 1920′s were super feminine. They were usually very tiny with either a thin metal band or black cord band. The face usually had some type of diamond or stone and the font of the numerals was pretty striking. Deco watches usually have alot of adornment as well which is why they remind me of beautiful bracelets. Even if they no longer tell time they are still special enough to wear. So yes, I would even buy a broken one to adorn my wrist. Below are some favorite deco watches from 1st dibs along with some other vintage watches that are truly feminine from other time periods.

1940′s Rolex

Alexa Chung will always be a style icon for me. She has such an effortless look and quality to her dressing which i just adore. I feel like I am always referancig her style when getting dressed in the morning or when shopping too. How would Alexa style this outfit? I feel like Alexa has two different looks when dressing herself. She either goes really girly with cute little dresses but will toughen up the look with boots and maybe a leather jacket. Or she is casual in jeans and a top. I thought it would be fun to play pertend stylist for the day and made a collage of how I would like to dress her with modern and vintage clothing and accecories. I went the feminine route with a little bit of masculin mixed in. Click on my pinterest board for links.

I have two looks going on here. A day time and night time look

Day

I would pair the vintage 60′s blue and green dress with the leather jacket and black chelsea boots to make it a little more down town. For accecories the hat, Alexander Wang leopord bag, and sunnies.

Night

I am going for a little bit more of a glam look for night hense the black sequin dress, vintage faux leopord coat, and vintage Chanel backpack. Some studded lady like wedges, pamela love crystal necklace, and crytal ball ring and shes good to go!

Hope you enjoyed my new kind of style post. I have many more in the works with other gals and guys!

Its been a while since I bought any new clothing for my wardrobe. Any of the money that is spent on shopping now comes from selling off my old clothing to Beacons. And with that cash I have been stocking up on lots and lots of boots. My favorite things to wear. I have about 90 dollars left and plan this weekend to hit up an antique shop in Conneticut and buy myself some vintage jewelry. If I did have more income though, I would love to add some new vintage items though. I am thinking jackets, kimono’s, and lots of dresses. I did a little window shopping on one of my favorite on line vintage stores Spanish Moss and here are some of my favorites.

dying over this silk kimono

NYC is in full winter mode, we had a snow fall over the weekend and gray and rainy sky’s ever since. I seriously hate this weather, I find it very depressing and I tend to wear alot of black and dark colors because of that. I guess my fashion style usually reflects my mood. I do believe that if you wear brighter pops of color in your ensemble your mood will pick up a little bit. Thats why I am a big fan of wearing lots of neon in the winter. A neon bag, shoe, or item of jewelry can brighten up any dark outfit and looks so chic at the same time. It’s funny how I find so much inspiration from high lighter colors but I do and just love it! I made a collage of some of my favorite neon’s. Click on my pinterest board for links and extra inspirations.

1. love how bright and shiny this clutch is. large enough to hold my wallet, keys, phone, and lipstick

2. this two-tone dress would look great with a black blazer and leggings in the winter and with only a cute sandle or loafer in the summer time

3. Seriously the most insane backpack i have ever seen. would have made high school much more enjoyable if this bad boy was on my back

4. A pop of neon is always essential when wearing a white tank

5. my favorite part of this bracelet is the gold tone paper clip clasp

6. these patent leather pink pumps remind me of Barbie shoes. love that they can fit my feet!

7. metallic deep pink leather and pink tone chunky chain. need I say more?

8. perfect earring to wear with a fancy dress or jeans and a simple tee

9. I am in love with this Movado watch. All black with a hint of neon blue, I need this

10. such a fun every day cuff. like how the neon painted rhinestones make it a little bit more femme

11. will never turn down a patent leather shoe

12. pink on purple skull ring

As of late I am loving the look of vintage Pietre Dure jewelry which is composed of mosaics. The designs of these bracelets, earrings, pins, and pendants are created by cutting various gemstones and building a picture. Some common stones that are used are carnelian, malachite, and different colored quartz. The background is usually black and the stones are cut and fit together to create beautiful design motifs. Some popular designs are florals and birds. The surface’s are smooth and therefore in order to verify that a piece is in fact Pietre Dure, and pieced together, one needs to look at it up close with a jewelers loop. I found some really beautiful Pietre Dure jewelry on Ebay and below are some of my favorites.

Hi all,

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Last week I did another purge in my closet and was able to sell off a few more things which is always exciting. One thing I noticed when going through my closet was that I don’t have many typical button down shirts. I think I have one classic one from Ralph Lauren that is green plaid and found at Goodwill for like 6 bucks. And also a couple of linnin floral blouses from Zara. I seriously hate the look of a crisp white collared shirt. I think that is why I tend to stay away from that type when shopping. First off I don’t really like the color white, I don’t like the stiffness of those shirts, and they always seem either too big or too fitted. And I never like to feel restricted in my clothes. Lately though I have been seeing tons of style bloggers all over the web wearing button downs and looking so cute in them. I did a little digging and saw that all of my favorites were from the label Equipment. What I like about these shirts is that they seem very loose and comfortable. They are also made out of silk which gives a really nice luxurious feel and come in so many different styles, prints, and colors. That is a shirt that I can get used to. The price tag is a bit hefty, in the 200 hundred-dollar price range. But now that I am getting older I would rather spend my money on quality clothing that won’t go out of style and can last at least 10 years. If you think about the cost per wear it can be totally worth it. Here are some of my favorites found on shopstyle.

love this orangey color

would wear over a maxi dress because of the sheer factor

love how extra long this top is and how it looks hand painted
