I have a real soft spot for vintage greetings cards and am always on the hunt for them when in antique shops. Their illustrations are just so cute and filled with so much joy and fun. My dream would be to amas a large collection of them and turn them into collages that I would frame and hang all over my apartment. I have yet to start this collection though because the cards I find are usually pretty expensive and would cost a ton for the purpose I want them for. Heres to hoping that I find a big box of them at an estate sale for 5 bucks. I am constantly looking though and found so many great cards on pinterest. Below are some of my favorites.

Hi guys,
One of my favorite things about travelling is checking out some vintage stores while away. You know me, I love to shop and I love my vintage so I always have to find some vintage destinations along the way. We hit up some fun vintage stores in both Memphis and Dallas. I allowed myself to buy one thing, a leather purse from the 80′s and I took a lot of pictures. When shopping, I am not only on the look out for vintage clothing and accessories but also home accessories as well. I am building quite the collection of vintage glassware, figurines, dishware and just love how it adds so much character to our home.

Over the weekend Craig sent me a link to a new blog he discovered called Classic Film Heroines. The blog is dedicated to classic film women from the 1900′s to 1960′s. I have been having so much fun scrolling through the archives and gaining inspiration from these beautiful womans style. Of course the 1920′s and 1930′s pics are my favorite. I love looking at the way these woman styled themselves in their real life and movie lives.

Now that it is the new year, I think it is the perfect time to re organize your home. Do a big purge of your closet and stuff around the house that you just don’t need anymore. Get rid of all the crap so your home can be more at ease. And do a big big clean after your purge so everything looks and feels amazing. I already did my closet purge over the weekend and bought two new boots that I love from selling all of my old stuff. My closet is now super organized and filled with clothes that I actually like and will wear for the first time. My next step is to spend the next few days cleaning my apartment because it is a big mess after these holidays. I need to dust, sweep, scrub every surface and when I am done I want to organize everything in the apt. I also want to check our storage space and see if I have any other artwork that I can hang on my walls. I really do believe that hanging art around your home really makes it feel warm and cozy. I recently stumbled upon vintage TWA posters from the artist David Klein. He was a famous illustrator and is most known for creating commercial advertisement posters for TWA airlines from 1955 to 1965. They truly are works of art and I really would love to start a collection one day. I love all of the colors that he uses and how he creates a completely different work of art for so many cities and countries. Below are some of my favorites.

I am so happy it is finally the weekend. We don’t have any crazy plans except
1. Having burritos’ for dinner tonight
2. Watching lots of vintage Christmas movies at home
3. A trip to Barnes and Noble on Saturday to read some trash mags
4. Organizing my vintage bag collection that lives in a shopping bag at the moment
5. Finally organizing my jewelry dresser. That will be alot of fun!
I seriously can’t believe Christmas is next weekend. We have been getting some holiday cards in the mail lately which are now living on our fridge. Adding a little holiday cheer to the apartment. I would love to start a vintage christmas card collection though. Frame them and hang them all around the apt each holiday season. Until then here are some vintage christmas cards that I found on Pinterest. Tis the season!

Have a great Weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving! I am posting a day early since I decided to take the rest of the week off and enjoy the holiday. This has been a very difficult year for Craig and I, lots of hard financial issues that we have been struggling with but dealing with too. I think things will get better for us and am very excited and thankful that the new year is quickly approaching. Hoping that 2012 will be a good one for our tiny family. In september we talked alot about our future and set some goals and plans in motion that we believe will make our family much happier. Every day and night we are working hard toward reaching said goal. I can’t talk about it now because I would like to wait till we make it official, and no it is not a baby. Our kitties are enough for now. But I will say that i am excited for our future for sure. Sorry to be so cryptic but “our secret” is definitely what I am most thankful for this Thanksgiving. And once everything is in motion I will gladly share it on the blog. Hope everyone has a great holiday with family and friends and lots of good food. My favorite is of course the stuffing. I just love it. Have a look at these vintage thanksgiving cards sure to put anyone in a good mood! You know me, I can’t resist a vintage card. So much cooler then the ones out today!

You know me, I have no shame in collecting anything and everything my apartment can hold and then some. It really does upset Craig but what can I say, I have been collecting things my entire life. When I was little we used to go on a few cruises a year. My brother and I were obsessed with collecting Swavroksi crystal figurines, you know the animal ones and would scout out the cruise boutique every day deciding which ones we wanted for our collection. We were not too careful with our collections and it is safe to say many of the animals might have been missing a tail or an ear but we loved them. I no longer collect those figurines but my obsession with collecting is something that will never end. I love collecting things for my home, especially vintage and antique and i think vintage toys should be next on my list. I don’t have any kids yet except my kitties and I do spoil them with lots of toys. What I love about vintage toys is how colorful they are. They have really unique colors, graphics, and illustrations and think they would look charming scattered through the house acting as art. They really are the perfect way to add color to a room and such a fun conversation starter. Why not put a vintage toy on display on a book shelf or your desk. I did a little browsing on Etsy and came across the shop Vintage Toyland that has the sweetest vintage toys. My favorites below.

I need to cut this post short. Having tech issues again. Is the site running slow for anyone else today? It is acting really slow for me. If having any difficulties please send me an email

Over the weekend Craig and I headed to Borders because unfortunately they are going out of business very soon. We usually stop by their every weekend to relax and look at magazines with a Starbucks. I am a little sad this tradition is ending. The Barnes and Noble near us does not have any seating. Anyhow, they have a great sale going on so we bought a bunch of books. I found some great interior design and vintage jewelry books and Craig found some really cool graphic design and illustration books. They will fit into our libraries very well. One thing I did not buy since I spent my money very quickly was children’s book. I thought it would be fun to start a collection with some of my favorites from my childhood. Which were Eloise, I mean which little girl doesn’t want to live in the Plaza Hotel, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. One day I will find all of them. Children’s books are so special because the illustrations are just lovely and cute. Especially vintage children’s books. I think they would make great artwork for a home office, children’s room, and living room. I did a little digging on google and found some really great Children’s book covers. For the record I have not read any of these books. I just really love the cover art.
def my kind of book

What are your favorite childhood books?

Happy Monday,
Mondays are usually a drag for me but today is a little bit more special because it is Craig and my two year anniversary. He has to work today which sucks because we arent spening the day together but once he gets home it is date night. We are going to the movies and then a late dinner. For our last anniversary we went to see Michael Buble perfom which was amazing and then went on a cruise. We had an amazing time but this year will be much more low key. No concert and no cruise but we are taking a mini vacation to Conneticut on the 19th. I seriously can’t wait for that. We are going to be doing lots of day trips around CT and even a trip to providence and newport Rhode Island. Until then I will be very busy preparing for the Bendels event. I found some really cute vintage anniversary cards on Flickr that I thought you would enjoy, please have a look.

I posted 8 cards since we got married
