Hi Guys,
I am still in the middle of unpacking, organizing, and eventually cleaning our new apartment which is why I have been away so long. I think it is going to take a few more weeks to have this apartment completed before I return to regular posting on here. But i am giving myself this much needed break from work to recharge and really make our new apartment feel like home. The boxes are finally gone but there are lots of things to be put away and much organizing to do. Besides unpacking, we have been having a great time exploring Austin. You know me, I have taken many trips to thrift stores, antique malls, and vintage stores doing a little bit of shopping and taking lots of pictures along the way. Right now I am so happy to be living in a new city and state that I am not really missing NY that much. I would say one of the things I will miss most is the Diamond District on 47th st. I love how one block in ny is completely dedicated to jewelry. It really is a dream walking down the street and seeing the most beautiful fine modern and vintage jewelry. Since it will be a long time before I can visit, I do get my inspiration from 1st Dibs. It has been a while since I browsed the site but here are some of my favorite vintage pieces.

Over the weekend my girl Amanda and I spent the afternoon at the antique center and garage in the city. The garage is a magnificent garage in Chelsea that on the weekends is transformed into a vintage wonderland. I was on a mission to find a couple vintage bracelets to add to my jewelry collection. I ended up finding two of them from the 1950′s. You know me, I much prefer to wear vintage jewelry whenever I can. Amanda found a special signed Kramer Egyptian Revival Necklace from the 60′s that I just love. I have never seen a necklace like it before and it even had neon paint on the pendant. Perfect for the neon trend in fashion this year. Her necklace is definitely a classic piece that can be worn forever. I decided to do a little digging on Ebay and see if I could find the necklace. unfortunately I couldn’t but found many other beautiful Egyptian Revival style necklace. Below are my favorites.

Happy Monday,
Mondays are definitely the saddest day of the week for me. It is hard to get back into the swing of things after a great weekend. Sunday afternoon we spent a little time at the Natural History Museum with friends and walked around the mammal room. I hadn’t been in years but I remembered loving to look at all of the “stuffed” animals. Anyways jewelry always gets me in a better mood so I thought it would be fun to browse 1st Dibs and hunt for vintage animal jewelry which is always a favorite.

Hi All,
My friend Amanda came over yesterday to help me organize some Corvus Noir inventory and watch The Sex and The City2 movie with me. We had a great time catching up, looking at amazing clothes on the screen, and playing with lots of jewelry. I have one drawer in my storage system that houses only animal pins, my favorite section. I have a ton of vintage tiger and panther pins that need to be reworked into necklaces eventually. Those feline brooches are definitely my favorite. They each have so much character to them and were designed with such attention to detail that you can feel the emotion within each piece. I did a little digging on Ebay to find you some similar styles. I love any with lots of enamel, rhinestone, and crystals.

I love this style. The pin moves and hangs and woman would hang them to the shoulder of a coat or blazer so the leopard hangs over

I am loving the look of a chunky gold mens style watch worn with lots of gold bracelets. I guess i love the mix of masculine and feminine worn all at once. I have slowly been building up my bracelet collection since it was lacking and have some new ones that I really love. I guess i am on the hunt for vintage bracelets because you know I think vintage is better. I love the look of a gold tone vintage bracelet either very chunky and ornate or small and delicate. They look so beautiful worn together and i always use jewelry to dress up my outfits. I found some favorites on Ebay, take a look.

When I think of Valentines Day, the colors that come to mind are pink and red. Even though this is not a color I also think of hearts. I did a little digging on 1st dibs to show you some of my favorite Valentines Day inspired jewelry.

Hi All,
Today is my 30th birthday and I am very excited to be pretend styling myself for the occasion in black tie looks! Tonight we are celebrating by going to the play Sleep No More and I seriously can not wait. I think it would be really fun to dress up but we will be on our feet for three hours exploring so that won’t happen. Will have to be comfort dressing all the way. Below are three different looks that I styled for different faux parties. If I learned anything from Rachel Zoe it would be that you need to have many options and different looks. Each theme is a mix of modern and vintage clothing and accessories. Please feel free to click on my pinterest for links.
This is the outfit that I would wear to see Sleep No More if money was of no concern and I had the strength to spend three hours in heels. I went with a vintage flapper dress for the occasion since the play is supposed to take place in the 20′s or 30′s. With some Deco jewelry and crazy spike shoes. This outfit is a little bit Victorian goth and I love it!

For my second party I would love to spend it on a cruise vacation. My birthday would fall on formal night and we would dress up for a fancy dinner and then go to the broadway style show afterwards. The day would have been spent on the beach in the Bahamas. I went with a loud color blocking dress since I love to wear long colorful dresses on vacation. The more color the better with lots of beautiful vintage stunning jewelry and a vintage shawl for even more pop!

For my last party I went with a bohemian but lux outfit with the long kaftan style dress. And a mix of beautiful silver accessories. I think it is perfectly ok to mix gold with silver and opted for vintage gold jewelry with emeralds. This party would be spent somewhere exotic like in Greece which is one of the spots we hit on our honeymoon two years ago. It was so beautiful there and I miss it. I am definitely dreaming of my next vacation even though I have no idea when that will be happening.

Happy Monday,
This week is partially a vacation for me because one it is my birthday on weds and two Craig is taking three days off starting tomorrow. So I am excited to have some time off together. Last weekend we were in Connecticut and I did a little vintage jewelry shopping with the money I made by selling off some old clothes. I did very well and bought two vintage bracelets and three vintage rings. I think rings are my favorite jewelry item to wear. I just love them. Big or small, real or faux I do not discriminate when it comes to jewelry. I will wear a ring on every finger if i feel like it and just love a hand covered in all kinds of rings. especially vintage ones. Below are some current favorites I found on 1st Dibs.

I would say my favorite vintage style of watch would be 1920′s Deco. I just love love love those watches, they are like beautiful pieces of art work for the wrist. I usually wear obnoxiously large watches in my every day life but definitely want to add a deco watch into rotation. I like how watches from the 1920′s were super feminine. They were usually very tiny with either a thin metal band or black cord band. The face usually had some type of diamond or stone and the font of the numerals was pretty striking. Deco watches usually have alot of adornment as well which is why they remind me of beautiful bracelets. Even if they no longer tell time they are still special enough to wear. So yes, I would even buy a broken one to adorn my wrist. Below are some favorite deco watches from 1st dibs along with some other vintage watches that are truly feminine from other time periods.

As of late I am loving the look of vintage Pietre Dure jewelry which is composed of mosaics. The designs of these bracelets, earrings, pins, and pendants are created by cutting various gemstones and building a picture. Some common stones that are used are carnelian, malachite, and different colored quartz. The background is usually black and the stones are cut and fit together to create beautiful design motifs. Some popular designs are florals and birds. The surface’s are smooth and therefore in order to verify that a piece is in fact Pietre Dure, and pieced together, one needs to look at it up close with a jewelers loop. I found some really beautiful Pietre Dure jewelry on Ebay and below are some of my favorites. I definitely would love to add a ring to my collection.
