After browsing pinterest, I see that I am lacking something very important in my kitchen, vintage dish towels. The dish towels that I have now are quite boring. Just a basic blue and green that I keep hidden in a drawer until I need to wipe off a pot. I think it would be great to add some vintage towels because they have so many different patterns and designs. I love how kitschy and cute they are and I think they would make wiping off wet dishes a little more bearable. They would look great hung from my stove during the day when not in use. I think they would also look great framed gallery style decorating my kitchen walls. Below are some of my favorites and click on my pinterest board to see more great designs.

Hi Guys,
Now that I am in full-blown decorator mode whenever I hit a thrift store, vintage store, antique mall, estate sale, etc I am always on ” the hunt” for vintage art. We try to keep the price down when looking and won’t really spend more than 20 or 30 dollars on the piece. But one day when money is less of a concern I want to have a massive collection. Right now we have about four vintage pieces and they are a bit lonely and need some new friends. I have seen so many cool and unusual pieces when out and about in Austin that I would love to own one day. Below are some of my favorites from local shops in town. What I love most about vintage art is that it is usually one of a kind and I don’t think many people will have the same kind of art.

One of my favorite things to do besides decorate is organize. But the two really go hand in hand because I want my organization to not only be practical but also attractive looking. I must say my organizational skills drive Craig a bit crazy because I am constantly on the hunt for things. In my defense though, he gets to enjoy my crazy since we share this apartment and he usually likes my ideas in the end. I was doing a little searching on pinterest the other day to get some organizational/interior decorating ideas for our new home. Even though we have been in Austin almost three months we are stilling making changes to our apt and i am loving the way it is coming together. I can’t wait to post about all the different rooms soon. Anyways below are some of my favorite ways of organizing with vintage elements. I hope it inspires you to continue making changes to your happy homes.

I was beyond thrilled when I scoured my own 1960′s Dorothy Thorpe glasses a few weeks ago at two different Goodwills in Texas. I think I literally did a happy dance right in the aisle. I first found a set of the letter Q and took 4 of them home with me. There were a couple of extras there but they had dead bugs in them and were beyond filthy. I decided I did not need to bring the dirt home with me. When we hit the next Goodwill two glasses with the letter C, for Craig were there and of course I snatched those babies fast. When we got home that night I hit Ebay to see if they were authentic Dorothy Thorpe and was so thrilled to see that they were! Such an amazing thrift find and each glass was only 99 cents. They go for so much more on Ebay, again a happy dance. Craig surprised me a couple of weeks ago and came home with a package from Ebay with a set of 4 glasses with the letter L. I keep one of those glasses by my desk so I can look at it every day.

I think I have said this many times before but I love Pinterest!. It is like a giant on line inspiration book that is broken up into categories boards so easily for you. I always create boards for my collage posts because it keeps everything I need organized and with links as well for purchase. Such a life saver for a blogger. Pinterest is also such a great alternative to google. I find so much inspiration in it whenever i use their search board. I thought it would be fun to start a series on the blog of my pinterest inspirations and ideas. When I searched jewelry organization so many pins came up with such thoughtful ideas. I am really feeling motivated to clean up and organize the jewelry in my closet.

I had an amazing time last week at the Sleep No More show for my birthday. I don’t want to give anything away but it was an incredible experience unlike anything I have ever been a part of. I would love to go again and for those who have yet to see it, please run. The show ends in April I think. The only thing I will say is that the rooms are decorated in 1930′s design and you know me, I love all things vintage. Especially walking into vintage style homes. One of the rooms that inspired this post was the taxidermy room. The room was covered in stuffed animals. I am not a big fan of taxidermy but I love when it is done in a different creative way. Meaning no real animals were used in the process. Artists Frederique Morrel creates the most amazing faux taxidermy animals I have ever seen. The animals are carved out of foam and covered in vintage tapestries. Below are some of my favorites. They are simply stunning.
