Behold the shear power of this ridiculously, random gift guide. I’ve tried to cover funny, kitschy, techy, retro, cool and useful. Remember, childhood nostalgia runs deep in the practice of gift giving. It’s not the price tag that determines a great gift, but the unique connection to the individual. I grew up in the 1980s, so anything LED or 8 bit is going to bring me to my knees. Remember jocks tormenting geeks in films like Revenge of the Nerds or Back to the Future… the glorious catch phrases. Within our gadget-obsessed culture, nerds are put onto pedestals to be admired… and rightfully so! While you’re here geeking-out, be sure to browse my more “mature” mens gift guides.

Tis finally the season for holiday themed parties, decorating, and lots and lots of shopping. And one of my favorite colors to wear this time of year is silver. I love to add a little silver sparkle to my wardrobe and it is a bonus for me if said item contains glitter! I don’t know why but silver and silver glitter just get me into such a holiday mood and I always feel a little more fancy when surrounding myself with it. I have lots and lots of packing to work on during the next 11 days but I plan on enjoying this holiday season and watching lots of Christmas movies before bed. Happy Shopping!

I love the color silver, especially around the Christmas holiday season. I don’t know why but it makes me think of old holiday movies, snow, icicles, glitter, and lots and lots of accecories. And it is the perfect color to wear to holiday parties, especially in the form of shoes, purses, and jewelry! Since we are moving in 12 days, I won’t be able to decorate my home in silver adornment this Christmas. However, I am getting inspired looking at everyone elses home decor ideas on Pinterest and instagram. And can’t wait to decorate next year when we will be living in our newly built home.
I never say no to glitter, especially when they grace the tips of my nails.
The perfect lady like holiday dress.
Need to make some DIY glitter animal friends next Christmas to line up our fireplace mantle.
Silver dipped cake pots are not only delicious but would make for a wonderful center piece.
A silver glitter cat eye is a look I must try ASAP.
These DIY glitter star garland would look amazing draped around the tree.
The most stunning silver water.
Silver chocolate almonds that look like liquid metal. Inspiration for my next holiday manicure.

It is really starting to feel like the holiday season in Austin. Usually it is sunny and in the 80′s this time of year but a cold front came in this weekend and it has been rainy and in the mid 30′s. I am not complaining though. I bought a new pair of boots yesterday to brave this cold and they are very comfortable. With Thanksgiving only three days away, now really is the best time to reflect on everything we are thankful for. My top three would be our first home that we are building, my husband, and our two cats. I love the little family that we have, just the four of us and am so excited to be moving into a house that is all ours. Rocco and Rufus have really been the greatest gift I have ever received and I know this sounds corny but having these two kitties around makes life so much more special. Cat’s seem to have a bad rep thanks to these guys but our boys are sweet, funny, loving, and very playful. You do have to work for their love at first but once you prove yourself they are all yours. Or rather you are all theirs.
I love how cats eyes always seem to change color
Cat eyes have become a staple in my beauty routine. My favorite look is pink shadow with a black cat eye and a red lip.
Must try this manicure it is too cute especially the cat and tail nail!
Anne looks stunning as cat woman
The perfect ornament for your tree
Will definitely be trying a smokey cat eye and need to find some cat ears too.
This cat print is amazing. Love the sunnies too!
Possibly one of the worlds most notorious cats.
Definitely going to buy this clock in pink for my home office. Love the vintage feel.

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is less then a week away. The last few months have flown by since Craig and I have been in packing mode since early September. Our lease of our rental apartment is up in december and instead of living month to month while we wait for our house to be built, we decided to move to Craigs moms in Connecticut and save a little money. It has been almost two years since we have been back to the east coast so we are so looking forward to spending Christmas there with family and friends. I am sure once February comes around we will be more then ready to move into our new house in Austin but until then I can’t wait to spend some time in NYC again.
The holidays do get a bit lonely for us in Austin since we don’t have any family here, but my mother in law fly in Thanksgiving day to celebrate with us. We decided not to cook a Turkey this year and just make chicken with the traditional Thanksgiving sides. And I made sure to stock up on a couple new candles to make our home feel more like the holidays since we are living with lots of boxes. My favorite holiday candle is Fresh Balsam, I just love the smell of Christmas trees. They feel so cozy. My other favorites are Lemon Mint Leaf for the kitchen and Lavender Vanilla for my bedroom. Candles really do make the perfect gift to bring to your holiday parties and meals. Have a look at the ones I have found below. I have never smelled them before but I usually pick my candles based on the way they look so I can keep the vessel afterwards. I know, so superficial of me but that is the sad truth.

You have found your perfect bar cart and now comes the fun part, accessorizing. I am a big accessory lover and believe that it is the little things that make your home special. The same goes for the bar cart. Without the right flair it falls a little bit short. Once you have the right accessories making drinks and having cocktail parties will be a . There are so many different kinds of glass wares on the market, but I believe you only need a set of each of the following. High ball glasses, old fashioned glasses, martini glasses, wine glasses, and champagne flutes. I love to display my high balls and old fashioned sets on my bar cart since they are used the most and the other sets I keep in my cabinet for occasional usage. Our decanter bottles are so beautiful that we keep them on our cart as well and dress them up with some jewels. I am going to let you in on a little secret, it has been almost seven years since I had a drink. I don’t want to go into specifics but I am very proud of this accomplishment. I do however, love to make cocktails for my husband and since I can not tase my concoctions I use a mini measure and always a recipe. My favorites below.
Happy Monday and treat yourself to a cocktail or mocktail tonight!
